We hope all is well with you and your family during these challenging times. In light of the mandated statewide school closures in response to COVID-19, we are reaching out with important information regarding the GoCPS high school application process. Please access your GoCPS account and accept or decline your High School offer before April 22, 2020! Thank you to all the students who have already completed this task.
Students who have not completed this task will be contacted by Richardson staff by email and/or phone this week. Please do not disregard Private or Unknown Calls to your phone. Also, check your email and parent's voicemail daily for the latest information.
As previously scheduled, high school application results were released on Friday, March 27, but we have extended the acceptance window to give families more time to make their decisions:
April 22: Deadline to accept or decline offers
- March 27: Round 1 application results released.
- April 22: Deadline to accept or decline offers.
- April 27: Waitlist process opens.
If your parent signed a proxy form for the school counselor (Mr. Tate) to complete the accept/decline process on your behalf, be sure to communicate with Mr.Tate about your decision before they take any actions. Since most CPS staff are currently working remotely due to school closures, the best way to initiate this conversation is to email your child’s counselor. Please refer to the staff directory on your school’s website or contact the main office for assistance (Mr.Tate's contact: Kmtate1@cps.edu).
The CPS Office of Access and Enrollment is working to assess the impact of school closures on the remainder of the GoCPS high school application timeline and will communicate any other changes or adjustments as soon as possible.
Opening a GoCPS Account – Email Address . Go to https://go.cps.edu/
2. Click the LogIn Tab
3. Click Create an Account first.
4. You will need your GoCPS activation code to set-up. If you are missing that code, Please see Mr.Tate.
When opening a GoCPS account, it is recommended that an email address is used, rather than a telephone number.
- Alerts and updates regarding the GoCPS application process are always sent via text to the phone number on the account. If an email address is used as the username, these alerts/updates will also be sent to the email address. This helps to ensure that the family receives the information.
Understanding High School Results
GoCPS has a new page called High School Selection that was created to help you understand the processes behind high school selections and notifications. This page includes a series of videos and illustrated guides that will walk you through important topics like high school matching factors and program admissions processes. Take some time to review this content before you leave for Spring Break so you can start understanding your options.
