ISBE Annoucement / Anuncio de ISBE
Tuesday evening, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) issued new guidance on grading during the school closure due to COVID-19.  ISBE stated:
“Student work completed during the mandated statewide school closure must not negatively impact a student’s grades or otherwise impact a student’s academic standing. As we do not yet know the full extent of the closure and want to minimize any negative effects on students, schools may allow student work to count during the closure only to increase a student’s academic standing.”

Teachers will be able to grade and count student work that is completed during the closure in ASPEN as long as it helps improve a students’ academic standing.  Our goal is that no student is negatively impacted by the closure. So the work that was assigned to the students is for their benefit and should be completed.
